The community gathered at Windsor’s Korean War Monument Saturday morning to recognize the 66th anniversary of the signing of the Korea War Armistice.

Canada lost 516 casualties in the Korean War, with seven of those casualties being from the Windsor-Essex County region.

The Korean Veterans Association (Windsor) conducted an ambitious 4-year fundraising campaign and was successful in raising the $80,000 needed to build the Windsor and Essex County Korean Veterans War Memorial located at Dieppe Gardens. It was dedicated in 2009.
