The Town of Kingsville’s public boat ramp remains closed due to high water levels.
The sustained high water levels have caused a lot of docks to be covered with water and due to the potential hazards caused by this condition, the Town is unable to accommodate the safe launching of boats at Cedar Island Boat Launch at this time.
Recently a locked gate was installed to prevent access to the launch and to improve the overall safety of the area. The boat launch is currently only accessible to emergency vehicles.
“It is unfortunate that the municipality has had to close this popular access point,”, stated Nelson Santos. ”However, given the increased risks, the overall safety of the users and community is the top priority at this time. The Town is looking at improvements that would upgrade the ramp and provide for the extra level of safety for public use.”
