Demolition of Windsor’s old city hall has started.
Officials say hazardous material was removed from the building over the past number of months, and now that work on that is complete, the building is coming down.
Budget Demolition, supervised by DST Consulting is now using a high-reach backhoe to take down the building.
The City says the demolition may cause noise, vibrations and dust, but air quality and vibration monitoring equipment is in place to ensure levels remain safe.
They say every effort will be made to keep the inconvenience to area residents, businesses and visitors as minimal as possible.
Crews anticipate the full demolition will be completed in September.
Work to prepare the building for demolition began shortly after city hall staffers moved into the new building in the spring of 2018.
