With the holidays approaching, one fast food chain is doing what they can to help the community.

Kicking off the weekend at its 6605 Tecumseh Road East restaurant, Tim Hortons is collecting gifts and food for all ages. In partnership with WHC Construction, all donations received will benefit the Windsor Homes Coalition.

Anyone bringing a gift or non-perishable item can receive a free hot chocolate. Those making donations will also be entered into a draw for a $100 Tim card. People are asked to bring new, unopened, unwrapped gifts like toys, clothes, linens and bath towels, cutlery, shoes, slippers and even gift cards. Non-perishables include pastas, cereals, juice boxes and lunch snacks, canned fruits and vegetables.

As Santa himself greets those who come out to help, today’s event will continue until 4 p.m.: After that, he’ll travel to Tim Hortons’ restaurant at 1420 Huron Church Road Sunday, accepting donations from 9am until 2pm.  Everyone involved is hoping people will continue to help.

Those who can’t make it during this time can also drop off anything they have to either store until December 4th.
