The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board and Unifor Local 2458 have reached a new tentative contract agreement for the 370 custodians, secretaries, office and clerical staff, maintenance workers, information technology workers and campus ministers the union represents.
The agreement comes after a lengthy bargaining session with the assistance of representatives from the Ministry of Education. Both parties were invited to Toronto to work with government officials on arriving at a solution to end the five-week old strike.
Details of the agreement will not be released until both the Board of Trustees and union members have an opportunity to review it and, if each side deems the agreement to be satisfactory, to ratify it.
Union members will vote on the agreement on Saturday, November 19th at 11am at the union hall. Trustees will be called to an emergency in-camera meeting to consider ratification of the deal.
