Two Afternoon Fires Keep Firefighters Busy

Two fires Wednesday afternoon kept fire crews busy.

The first broke out at Marine City Apartments at the corner of Tecumseh Road West and Ouellette Avenue just after 12:30pm.

Investigators say that a mattresses in the underground parking garage ignited. It was extinguished by sprinkler system, but sent smoke into a few floors above. Damage is reported to be minimal.

The second happened around 3pm at Le Goyeau Condos on Riverside Drive East.

Investigators there say it started in a suite under renovation on the 9th floor.

The cause and damage estimate has not been released.
