The body of a male swimmer who had been missing since Saturday afternoon from the southern-most tip of Pelee Island was located near shore Sunday morning.
Members from the Pelee Island Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Essex County OPP Marine Unit, the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) and the Canadian and United States Coast Guard suspended their search last evening due to unsafe weather conditions.
Police say that as the search was resuming on August 21st, 2016 the deceased was located near shore by a civilian around 9:30am.
The deceased has been identified as Jered Grieb, age 20 from Chardon, Ohio.
