Firefighters battled a kitchen fire caused by careless cooking in a Leamington apartment building Saturday evening.
The fire broke around 6pm in the building on Plumbrook Avenue.
It took 24 firefighters from Kingsville and Lemaington several hours to bring it under control.
Two people had to be rescued and one firefighter was injuried. Three pets also passed away.
Approximately 100 residents in the apartment are currently displaced.
Damage is set at $435,000.
