Summer Festival Preview: LaSalle Strawberry Festival 2016

The 29th Annual LaSalle Strawberry Festival takes place this weekend.

Kicking off Thursday evening the Strawberry Festival begins with opening ceremonies at 6pm at Gil Maure Park followed by the Miss LaSalle and Little Miss Strawberry pageants.

Friday evening, LaSalle’s own Autumn Kings take the stage at 7:30pm, followed by Canadian pop punk pioneers, Gob at 9pm. The fireworks will explode over the Detroit River at 10pm.

On Saturday the Strawberry Festival parade travels along Front Road between Turkey Creek and Sacred Heart Drive beginning at 10am. Entertainment on Saturday night features Cowboys in Cardigans at 7:30pm and Canadian singer/songwriter Steven Page, founding member of Barenaked Ladies at 9:30pm.

Sunday is family day.

Throughout the weekend, the Strawberry Festival will feature the West Coast Lumberjack Show. Organizers say this is an action-packed, non-stop entertainment show featuring a full spectrum of lumberjack events including log rolling and tree climbing. The West Coast Lumberjack Show will take place several times throughout the festival.

Carnival rides and games are presented by Robertson’s Amusements. Strawberries are provided by Raymont’s Berries of Cottam. Strawberries and ice cream and quarts of strawberries will be available for purchase. The Molson Beer Garden will provide a variety of beers and spirits for those aged 19+, and is open Friday and Saturday from 3:00pm to 11:00pm.

Admission is $5 per person at the gate with children under 6 and seniors over 65 free.
