Construction of a new accessible washroom/change room building at Jackson Park is set to go pending city council approval of the contract.
The new building will replace the existing near the playground at the west end of the park. That building was constructed in 1999 and is not accessible to today’s standards.
The new building includes two stand alone universal washrooms with adult change tables and two connecting washroom/change rooms that will be opened depending on seasonal demand.
The building also includes a mechanical room for the new splash pad that will also be constricted nearby.
The steel skeleton and roof of the existing washroom building will be converted to a picnic/shade structure.
Rainbow Painting and Decorating Inc. was the lowest bidder coming in at $327,615.
Final approval goes to council on June 20th.
