Open Streets Windsor is in the process of creating programming that will connect our diverse neighbourhoods and people across our community on Sunday, July 17th and Sunday, September 18th, 2016.

During Open Streets an eight kilometre route along Sandwich Street, University Avenue West, Wyandotte Street East and Drouillard Road will be temporarily opened to people but closed to cars. With that in mind, event organizers are looking for agencies, organizations and businesses to contribute ideas and activities at several hubs along the massive event route.

In addition to providing a space for people to walk, cycle, roller blade, etc., the organizing team has designated hubs for people who would like to participate in other free activities that promote healthy and active lifestyles, and they are looking for people to make that happen.

Activities must be free and encourage the greatest possible participation from people of all ages and abilities.

If you would like to become a supporting activity partner, the city has several brainstorming and planning sessions planned:

  • Sandwich Community Hub – Tuesday, May 17th from 5:30pm to 6:30pm at Mackenzie Hall.
  • Downtown and Wyandotte Community Hubs – Wednesday, May 18th from 5:30pm to 6:30pm at Windsor Water World.
  • Walkerville and Ford City Community Hubs – Thursday, May 19th from 5:30pm to 6:30pm at the Gino and Liz Marcus Community Complex.

Or, if you’re unable to attend, you can also complete the Expression of Interest Form online.
