The Essex Region Conservation Authority will undertake a Low Complexity Prescribed Burn at Hillman Marsh Conservation Area on Tuesday, March 22nd.
Approximately 5 hectares (12 acres) of tallgrass prairie grassland will be burned by ERCA’s certified, professional staff to revitalize the tallgrass prairie ecosystem.
Ignition will begin just after 12pm, with the entire process taking approximately three hours. The burn will be carried out by hand ignition by professional staff trained and certified in fire behaviour and control.
