Trees in LaSalle have been cut again.

Police say that town crews noticed two trees in Kenwood Park that had been severely damaged on Wednesday.

They say that twopPoplar trees with 2 to 3 feet wide bases and almost 100 feet in height, had 2″ to 5” deep chain saw cuts around the circumference of the tree.

Due to the trees structural integrity being compromised and the possibility they could fall on an adjoining house or on children and adults who frequent the park, a tree removal service was on scene today to cut off the big limbs before they take down the trees.

This is the second time such an incident has taken place in the past six months. A similar incident took place at Lafferty Park in November 2015 and those trees also had to be taken down.

If you have information on who is responsible, you are asked to call LaSalle Police at 519-969-5210 X 0 or Crime Stoppers at 519-254-TIPS
