The City of Windsor is set to launch the fifth Spay/Neuter Voucher Program for cats in March.
In an effort to reduce the number of homeless cats and the number of cats euthanized in the city, 700 vouchers will be issued to sterilize cats. The vouchers are valued at $75 each, including HST and the initial release phase of 400 vouchers will be available in March 2016 with the exact launch date to be determined.
A second phase of 300 vouchers will be available in May 2016.
Vouchers for owned cats are reserved for low-income families. A declaration of income will be required, and a maximum of two vouchers per household will be issued. For feral cat caregivers, a maximum of 4 vouchers per household will be issued, with no income restrictions.
There are several changes to the 1016 program. These include no waiting list accommodation once all vouchers have been allocated, the voucher expiry term of 90 days will not be extended, vouchers will not be transferable once issued and recipients of Phase 1 vouchers will not be eligible to apply in Phase 2.
Vouchers may be redeemed at any participating veterinary clinic.
