One Local Beach Closed This Weekend

windsoriteDOTca will be providing weekly beach reports every Friday, all summer long. We will let you know which beaches are safe for swimming, and those that are not.
Water samples testing for E.coli bacteria are taken every Wednesday. The samples are sent to a public health lab in London. Testing is done Thursday and the results are given to the Health Unit by Friday.
Based on samples taken Wednesday, August 19th, 2015:
Sandpoint, West Belle River, Hillman, Point Pelee (Northwest), Mettawas, Cedar Island, Colchester, and Holiday beaches are posted as bacterial counts exceed 100.
Cedar Beach is closed this week as bacterial count exceeds 1000.
The blue-green algae advisory is rescinded at Hillman Marsh beach as lab results confirmed acceptable level of microcystins.
