U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the Detroit Windsor Tunnel located a 12-year-old runaway from Windsor on board the Tunnel Bus late Sunday night.
They say that the girl had no documents and was traveling alone.
Officers questioned the juvenile and discovered that the minor was a possible runaway. Coordination with police in Windsor confirmed that she had run away from home.
“Working together during incidents such as this shows how local and federal agencies are able to coordinate efforts to locate runaways,” said David Beculheimer acting port director. “CBP officers in Detroit, together with the CBSA and officers from the Windsor Police Department, were able to locate this missing juvenile and get her home safely.”
She was reunited with her mother with the assistance of Canada Border Services Agency and Windsor Police.
