The Essex Region Conservation Authority has issued a flood watch.

They say that the region has received on average, precipitation which has exceeded 50mm and that forecasts are advising for an additional 10 to 15 mm of precipitation making the potential for flooding throughout the region especially in low lying areas adjacent to and within floodplain areas on all major waterways.

The significant rainfall which has continued throughout the morning and afternoon hours has most significantly affected the middle portions of the region, with Windsor, Tecumseh, Essex, Lakeshore and Kingsville being the most affected areas.

They warn that all north shore waterways will continue to rise through the evening hours. All open field areas are holding substantial amounts of ponded water which is now flowing out into receiving floodways.

Ponded/Standing water which has accumulated in and on roadways, in the rural and urban areas of the region, should not be assumed to be safe to drive through. Extra precaution should be taken in passing through any areas of standing water.
