Windsor and Essex County is home to dozens of walks and runs. If you are looking to raise money for a charity, get doused in color or to show your Canadian spirit, there is something for everyone!
We have complied a detailed listing of all local events. If we missed something, email us at [email protected] and we will add it to our growing list.
Run for Rocky on April 12th:
The Campana Family along with Windsor Pride wanted to share Rocky’s story and help fund GSA’s in the local high school and post-secondary school systems to ensure parents, educators and youth have the knowledge and funding needed to help create Safe Schools and ensure there is a support system for youth in times of crisis. Loaring Run Under The Sun on April 19th:
Featuring a 5k Run/Walk, 10k Run, 1k Kids Fun Run, and Onsite Post-Race Awards Party by Armando’s Trattoria all happening in the Town of Tecumseh. Proceeds support Windsor/Essex County Sports Hall of Fame, and The Hurdle Project More information and to register online can be found here.
Go Blue for Autism on April 26th:
This event is in its 3rd year in an effort to spread autism awareness and to promote the creation of programs supporting children and their families within Leamington/Kingsville and surrounding areas. All money raised will be donated to Autism Ontario – Windsor Essex Chapter. More information an to register can be found here.
Le Chocolat on May 3rd:
The only Run in the World that gives every Registrant an amazing Pelee Purse with 3L of White Chardonnay or Red Merlot Wine, Chocolate and a Chocolate inspired Finisher’s Medal. More information and to register for Le Chocolat can be found here.
Hope, Run, Cure 5k on May 24th:
Enjoy a 5km Run/Walk along the East Windsor/Ganatchio Trail System. The route is traffic free, scenic and accessible for all ages and abilities. All proceeds from this event go to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. More information and to register online can be found here.
South Shore Spring Sprint on May 30th:
Proceeds to Benefit South Shore Christian School and Little Hands Kids for a Cause in Leamington. More information and to register can be found here.
Walk for Alzheimer’s on May 30th:
Walk for Alzheimer’s and support those who are touched by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias at the Ford Test Track. More information and to register can be found here.
Canada D’Eh 5K Run on July 1st:
As a part of the Historic Amherstburg official Canada Day Celebrations, the Canada D’Eh 5K Run/Walk starts off a day filled with patriotic events. The Start/Finish line is outside the main gates of Historic Fort Malden a Parks Canada site. The course proceeds up Laird around Tody Jones Park and down Dalhousie and back. Rock Me Anaphylaxis on July 4th:
Takes place as part of the Fork and Cork Food Festival. Run the musical course along the Detroit River and main stag. Finish Line Concert by the Funk Junkies. This run benefits The Windsor Allergy Asthma Education Centre. More information and to register for Rock Me Anaphylaxis can be found here.
Color Run on July 18th:
The Color Run, also known as the Happiest 5k on the Planet, is a unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness and individuality. More information and to register can be found here.
Wet & Wildlife Hawk Run on August 23rd:
The Wet & Wild Hawk Run at Holiday Beach is a wacky 5K Walk or Run. Will you get wet? You betcha – throughout the beautiful natural course you will run through misting stations, possibly be hit by a water sniper, and encounter other wet and wild adventures along the way. Super Heroes 5K on September 20th:
This run allows you to say, “I am running for the person who has made a difference in my life.” The pledges and donations raised to benefit the Caregiver Support Programs at the Alzheimer Society of Windsor and Essex County. Zombie Chase on October 10th:
The 3rd edition of the living dead race takes place in the evening at 7pm. A 5k Run/Walk/Drag on the Riverfront Trail in downtown Windsor starting at the Askin and Riverside Drive parking lot and out to Ouellette and back. More information and to register for Zombie Chase can be found here.
