The City of Windsor is asking all outdoor sports enthusiasts to remain patient and stay off municipal sports fields.

City baseball diamonds are scheduled to open May 2nd and soccer fields and cricket grounds on May 16th, weather permitting.

They city says that access to the sports fields in early spring is extremely limited to allow the grass to re-establish itself after winter. In early spring, the turf is young and very tender and highly susceptible to damage.

Sports play on citywide baseball, soccer and cricket grounds should be avoided until the fields have an opportunity for the grass to grow and to allow for pre-season maintenance.

For questions about specific sport field allocations, you can call Linda McLeod, Seasonal and Sport Facilitator, at 519-253-2300 ext. 2714.
