A new mobile video communications app that lets college students communicate safely and securely will have its initial deployment at St. Clair College.
The new app created by WeCam Technologies is designed to foster better communications between students on college campuses.
Called, StudentCampus, the app was developed over the past eight months in collaboration with members of the Student Representative Council and management of St. Clair College. Built on WeCam’s proprietary SecureChannel mobile technology platform, StudentCampus provides a safe and secure social environment for students to communicate with other classmates, teachers, and even potential employers.
Using StudentCampus, students can connect with classmates using video and text chat and share common interests.
“We believe students worldwide should be able to communicate, share ideas and interests in a safe environment. We have been very fortunate to have such a great forward-thinking partner in St Clair College,” said WeCam President and CEO Rob Whent.
“What started with a brainstorm over lunch last year has transformed into a mobile app that offers our students a rich communications environment to build social connections and learning opportunities,” said St. Clair College Vice-President John Fairley.
The StudentCampus app is available on both iOS and Android platforms. While it is launching exclusively at St. Clair College, WeCam plans to extend it to other campuses across North America in in the fall.
