As part of the city’s 2015 budget, city administration is recommending that $250,000 be spent annually to update the city’s aging arenas.
The city says that due to changing user demographics — more females playing hockey — a shortage of dressing rooms is one of the areas that must
be addressed.
Administration says that the city should now be offering six dressing rooms per single pad and 12 per double pad.
In addition, seveal capital repairs are required for the aging arena facilities including Forest Glade Arena, Adie Knox Arena, South Windsor Arena and the WFCU Centre.
Compressors and chillers are very expensive equipment that require ongoing maintenance programs, and major overhauls every few years, according to budget documents.
