Customs officers will be running an emergency exercise at the Ambassador Bridge today and it may cause delays for Canada-bound travellers.

First responders including Windsor Fire, Windsor Police and Essex Windsor EMS will join the Canada Border Services Agency to conduct an emergency response preparedness training exercise on the Ambassador Bridge Canadian plaza. The exercise is designed to maintain a state of readiness in response to any potential situation that might threaten the health and safety of the travelling public and plaza personnel, according to the CBSA.

Officials say the simulation will involve the use of traffic control measures, which will temporarily slow and pause the normal movement of Canada-bound, non-commercial vehicles for around 15 minutes of the training exercise.

The exercise won’t affect U.S. bound traffic or Canada-bound commercial traffic.
