A new firehall is being planned for South Windsor.
In a report to be considered by city council on September 8th, city administrators recommend approving a new Fire Station #8 for the 6th Concession area. The new fire hall would also include a new Emergency Operations Centre, according to the report.
Back in December, city council directed a review of the current location of Fire Station #8, at Windsor airport, and sought to “determine the most appropriate method to minimize a gap in South Windsor using existing resources,” according to the report.
Due to plans to move Fire Station #5 from Cabana Road to Daytona and Northway, the report says the current station 8 would be too far east to optimize response in all directions.
The report identifies the vicinity of the Sixth Concession and Provincial Road as a key location for the new station 8.
City council will debate the matter next Monday.
