Windsor Spitfires Assistant General Manager and Head Scout Terry Doran has agreed to join the NHL’s Calgary Flames as a scout. Doran joined the Spitfires as Head Scout back in 2005.

“It’s a tough day for the organization and for me personally,” General Manager Warren Rychel said. “On one hand we’re excited for Terry and the opportunity this affords his family. Nobody has worked harder than Terry in this league over the last nine years. His hard work is reflected in a pair of OHL championships, back-toback Memorial Cup titles and the many players that have graduated from our team and moved on to full-time careers in the NHL.”

Rychel says as much as Doran has been key to the organization, he has also meant a lot as a person.

“Terry has become like a brother to me. He’s become one of my best friends. He will be missed and extremely hard to replace. Not too many franchises have had more success than the Windsor Spitfires over the last nine years. Terry has been an integral part of that.”

Doran says he will always remember his time with the Spitfires organization fondly.

“Obviously I’m leaving with some mixed emotions,” Doran said. “I have a great relationship with Bob and Warren. It’s been a great run. The two Memorial Cups. A lot of success. A lot of great times and great memories. I think the team is on the right track and I wish the guys all the best going forward.”

Doran echoed Rychel’s sentiments in terms of the relationship the two have built over the years.

“Warren and I have spent a lot of time together on the road. I consider him to be a close friend
