A defective electrical switch gets the blame for a power outage that left many east end homes and businesses in the dark, Sunday night.

Enwin utilities says a one minute-long outage affected 2151 customers between Riverside, Little River, Bertha and Frank streets.

Then, power was knocked out to two areas between Riverside Drive, Forest Glade Drive, Riverdale and Lauzon: 600 customers lost power from 10:34pm until 11:07pm and another 600 were out until 11:23pm.

Enwin says the outages were caused by a defective 27.6kv switch.
