The Charlie Brooks Memorial Peace Fountain — the only international floating fountain in North America — is in the process of being installed for the summer.
Crews began working to install the fountain, Wednesday, which can move 12,000 gallons of water per minute.
Installation involves moving the fountain from its wintertime home out of the water to Coventry Gardens, securing the fountain in place, and testing to ensure the pumps and 150 lights work correctly.
Once ready, the fountain will present its light and water show daily from 11am to 10pm in Reaume Park/Coventry Gardens located on Riverside Drive at Pillette Avenue.
The Charlie Brooks Memorial Peace Fountain was designed by Richard J. Van Seters, Fountain Design Consultant of M.M. Dillon Ltd., and T.W. Szalay, Director of Special projects for Windsor’s Department of Public Works. The fountain is dedicated to the memory of former labour leader Charlie Brooks (1915-1977), an enthusiastic booster of Windsor’s riverfront development.
