Funding announced today will allow more Windsor-Essex patients return home sooner and avoid hospital readmission after a hospital stay.
The province is providing $8.25 million to Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare Road to help plan, design and implement a new 30-bed Reactivation/Rehabilitation Unit.
This new unit will help improve the independence of Alternative Level of Care for patients with the goal of helping them get home sooner and preventing long-term care placement.
The new unit will also free up acute care beds in the Windsor-Essex region for patients who need them.
“In our new role on the Prince Road site, Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare is committed to serving the healthcare needs of our community. Today’s announcement provides a significant enhancement to our reactivation and rehabilitation services on the Prince Road site. This not only improves our capacity to provide more services it also improves our capacity to improve patient flow across the continuum of care. Through this investment we are better able to serve the residents of Windsor-Essex.” remarked Ken Deane, CEO, Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare
