The Bikes & Beer Returns for Leukemia Cycling Tour makes a return May 31st.
The annual tour hosted by WindsorEatsfeatures stops at local breweries and pubs in Windsor.
Returns for Leukemia Bottle Drive is part of a month long effort to raise money for Returns for Leukemia, a fundraiser held each May by United Food & Commercial Workers Local 12R24 in partnership with The Beer Store to raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada.
The Bottle Drive takes place May 24 & 25, 2014, where customers are invited to donate all or a portion of their empty bottles or event cash, with proceeds going to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada.
“Last year alone, over $1.7 million dollars was raised and it is thanks to events like the Bikes and Beer Cycling Tour that contribute to this success,” says Ted Moroz, president of The Beer Store. “The Beer Store is very proud of its 7,000 hard working employees who come together every year to raise much needed funds for leukemia and lymphoma research in Canada.”
Participants are also encouraged to bring along their empties on the day of the ride to donate to the Returns For Leukemia Bottle Drive.
“We’re very excited that this fundraiser has become an annual tradition,” says Adriano Ciotoli, co-owner of WindsorEats. “It provides people the opportunity to give to a great cause all while having a good time.”
The Bikes & Beers Cycling Tour includes a guide, beer tastings at local breweries, appetizers and tours through some of the city’s historic neighbourhoods and landmarks.
Tickets are $45 each with proceeds going to Returns for Leukemia and can be purchased online here.
