Ground was broken this morning at the site of the University of Windsor’s new Welcome Centre.
A highlight of the ceremony was a photo taken with a hovering, film-quality helicopter drone fitted with a camera.
The drone captured photos of the building’s eventual occupants posing for aerial photos from an outline of the space they will occupy when the building is complete.
The new building is located at the north-east corner of Patricia and Wyandotte and is estimated to cost $8.4M.
The design of the building is meant to create an open, welcoming feel for campus visitors and will house alumni and student recruitment offices, as well as the campus campaign office and public affairs and communications.
Construction is expected to be completed in the summer of 2015.
