Rose City Gymnastics will be hosting the Ontario Provincial Gymnastics Championships this April. The event will bring over 1,600 athletes, coaches and officials to the region along with parents and family members.
The championship will be held from April 3rd to April 6th, at the newly opened St. Clair College Sportsplex. Top Ontario athletes in Men’s Artistic Gymnastics, Women’s Artistic Gymnastics and Acrobatics will compete for the right to be considered the best in the sport in Ontario. Top finisher move on to national level competition and potentially Canada’s Olympic Gymnastics team.
According to organizers, last year’s event, also hosted by Rose City Gymnastics, brought upwards of 5,000 people out to the four day event and along with it some significant economic spinoff to the region.
Organizers say that over 400 hotel rooms were booked with visitors frequenting local restaurants, shopping centres and local attractions. Many returning competitors and their family members are looking forward to again enjoying the hospitality of the Windsor/Essex County region and all that it has to offer.
“We are extremely excited to be hosting this epic event that will generate a significant economic spinoff for our community,” says Mary-Helen Spadafora, Vice President of Rose City Gymnastics.
