At Monday night’s Budget Meeting of Windsor City Council, Mayor Francis is seeking council’s approval for $50,000 to support the City of Windsor’s participation in the 2014 Chevrolet Belle Isle Detroit Grand Prix.
This is not the first time the city has sponsored the event. In 2008 and 2013, the city paid $85,000 for each of those years.
Sponsorship in the past has included a dedicated grandstand, wall signs and naming rights to the international media center.
The council report, authored by Mayor Eddie Francis, notes that the city has “received significant positive exposure from this event.”
