A fire at an apartment building on Riverside Drive is the second blaze of the night for Windsor firefighters.

Crews responded to 8717 Riverside Drive east around 11pm and found flames and smoke coming from a balcony on the 4th floor.

Firefighters set up an aerial platform and quickly put out the fire. Crews went inside to ensure the fire did not spread.

In the midst of the incident, a number of people became trapped in one of the building’s elevators.

Investigators haven’t yet said what was burning on the balcony and the cause is still under investigation.

There are no reports of injuries.

This is the second fire in Windsor this Christmas Eve.

Firefighters put out a blaze in South Windsor that caused $50,000 in damage.
