A major overhaul of the library system is being planned by Mayor Eddie Francis.
Francis says the library will be “retooled for the 21st century” at a cost of $5.8 million.
Improvements will include relocation of the Central branch in Downtown Windsor, moving the Walkerville Library from Tecumseh Road to a renovated Optimist Community Centre, renovations to the Budimir branch in South Windsor, a new branch at Devonshire Mall and the relocation of the Sandwich branch to the old Sandwich Fire Hall which has sat unused for years.
City council will be asked to consider Francis’ plan, Monday.
Details about where the Central branch will be moving to are expected to be released soon.
