The City of Windsor invites you to join Poet Laureate Marty Gervais and four other noted poets on the deck of the majestic Sorlandet on Saturday, August 31st for an evening of Poetry on the Water.

Starting at 7pm, the evening features special guests John B. Lee (Norfolk County Poet Laureate); Keith Inman (winner of the Cultural Capitol of Canada Poetry Contest for Niagara); Vanessa Shields (author of Laughing Through A Second Pregnancy and editor of Whisky Sour City); and Mary Ann Mulhern (author of Touch the Dead, When Angels Weep, and Sleeping with Satan, Salem Witch-hunt 1692). The Sorlandet will be docked at Dieppe Gardens, as part of the Coastal Trails: Sails to See Festival and our regional commemoration of the War of 1812.

Hors d’oeuvres and the locally created Stowaway 1812 wine will be served by St. Clair College Centre for the Arts.

A limited number of tickets are available at $40 per person. You are asked to call 519-253-2300 or visit the Parks and Recreation Main Office at 2450 McDougall Street to purchase Poetry on the Water tickets.

From August 30th to September 2nd, nine tall ships will drop anchor in Windsor-Essex and Pelee Island for the final stop of the Pan Provincial Tall Ships 1812 Tour commemorating the Battle of Lake Erie.
