Today, BMO Financial Group announced it is donating $40,000 to The Windsor and Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation. The donation will go towards their $4 million It’s In Your Jeans capital appeal to fight prostate cancer.

“We are pleased to invest in this very important cancer care initiative that will benefit men and their families in Essex, Kent, and Lambton counties,” said David Blyth, Vice President, BMO Bank of Montreal.

“The Bank of Montreal has a long and respected tradition of social responsibility and active participation in projects that help strengthen our local health services and our community” said Norma Brockenshire, President of the Windsor and Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation. “We are thrilled to receive their very generous gift which will help bring first class prostate cancer care close to home.”

Launched in June 2012, the It’s In Your Jeans campaign will equip the new Regional Comprehensive Men’s Health Program in three key areas.

A Men’s Health Centre conveniently located at Windsor Regional Hospital, providing one stop multidisciplinary care with reduced wait times from 30 anxious weeks to 16 weeks, well within acceptable standards; and providing access to the highest quality treatment options best suited to each patient.

New laboratory equipment for faster, improved diagnosis for all cancers for both men and women.

As well, towards the da Vinci® Surgical Assisting Robot for minimally invasive surgery that provides excellent cancer control with less blood loss, fewer complications, shorter hospital stays, and faster return to normal activities than conventional prostate surgery. There are da Vinci® trained urologists in Windsor, but no machine.
