An unsafe building in Essex Centre, owned by the Town of Essex will be torn down this Sunday.
A decisions to demolish the building, known as 49 Talbot Street North, and pictured centered above, was made late Wednesday following a full assessment of costs and safety considerations.
On Tuesday, the town ordered 47, 49 and 51 Talbot Street North closed and notified the occupants were asked to vacate their buildings immediately.
The three affected businesses are Deluxe Restaurant, 1st Defense School of Martial Arts and 2 Waves Day Spa.
The town said their decision was based on concerns about unsafe conditions following an incident on April 4th when a large panel of stucco at 49 Talbot fell and landed onto the roof of 47 Talbot.
Gagnon Demolition has been chosen by the town to undertake the demolition work. Work is set to begin at 5:30 am lasting until 4:30pm. Talbot Street North will be closed between Gordon and Wilson all day.
