City of Windsor administration is looking to discontinue its Snow Angels Program after this season comes to a close.
The program, which has been around for 15 years, pairs volunteers with seniors over the age of 65 who may not be able to clean the snow from their city sidewalks or driveways.
In a report to City Council, City Engineer Mario Sonego says that the program currently only has 80 volunteers signed up but has over 350 requests for the program. The city had hoped that the number of volunteers would increase when the requirement for high school students to perform over 40 hours of community service, but that did not happen.
Should City Council agree to retire the program, the city will actively seek out other community organizations who may wish to offer the program.
