This week is National Immunization Week and the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is sending out a message to adults letting them know that Immunization isn’t just for children.
Diseases like pertussis (whooping cough), chicken pox, shingles, diphtheria, tetanus, measles, mumps, rubella, pneumonia, and influenza (the flu), affect adults as well.
Many of these diseases spread easily through families, but adults can be immunized for pertussis and other illnesses commonly thought only for children.
Vaccines are a family affair and adults can get many of these immunizations free-of-charge. Do you know what immunizations you need? Follow this link to the Immunize Canada website and find out.
