March is National Nutrition Month, and to celebrate, the Windsor-Essex County Registered Dietitians are helping Windsorites make healthier food choices by offering a number of free and guided tours of local grocery stores. The tours aim to teach people how to make healthier food choices for themselves and their families.
According to a 2012 Dietitians of Canada Ipsos Reid Poll, two-thirds of Canadians struggle with making healthier food choices at grocery stores at least half the time they shop. Every year, dietitians across Windsor-Essex County build on the nutrition month theme to further educate residents about nutrition and healthy eating.
This year, as part of their local Nutrition Month activities, the Registered Dietitians of Windsor-Essex County (RDWEC) are encouraging residents to put their “Best Food Forward: Plan Shop Cook Enjoy!”, by sharing our knowledge of nutrition, healthy eating, and healthy shopping.
Each tour will take approximately one hour and will accommodate a maximum of 12 participants. Space is limited and registration is required. For more information or to register visit online here or call 519-258-2146 ext. 3100.
