The Graduate Student Society at the University of Windsor will have a new home come this fall.
After vacating their long time home at 458 Sunset Avenue, the former Grad House in 2006, they were relocated to a temporary location at a converted house on Sunset. The house that they now occupy is one of four houses that will demolished as the University plans for the closure of Sunset Avenue, and the addition of much more green space on campus.
Their new home will be located in the space formerly occupied by the Financial Aid Office in the Faculty of Education building, on the corner of Sunset and Fanchette. The Financial Aid Office recently relocated to the east end of the Faculty of Education building.
The entire section will be renovated to provide new offices, as well as a kitchen and bar space. A grassy section on the south end of the property will be converted to a patio with landscaping.
The cost for renovations will be split between the University and the Graduate Student Society. Total construction is estimated to cost $870,000. Work is expected top be completed near the end of the summer in time for the students return to school in September.
