Windsor is blanketed with several inches of snow, all which fell within a short period of time this afternoon.
While we started the day cold a dry, snow that started falling early this afternoon snarled traffic, caused accidents and sent salt crews out to busy roads.
Snow started falling heavily in West Windsor and in the Downtown area while in other areas in the city saw accumulation starting later. Readers report between between a few inches and nearly a foot, in areas where it has blown, have accumulated in different parts of town.
Environment Canada says a small weather disturbance has caused flurries to intensify across Southern Ontario and snow has been quite frequent at times all the way from Windsor to Toronto.
Windsor Police report that they have dealt with 16 car accidents since 11am and advise drivers to slow down and leave space between other vehicles.
Environment Canada says the snow will taper off later this evening.
