The investigation is over on Thornberry Crescent following last Friday’s fire that claimed the life of a man and left a 21-year-old woman in the hospital with critical injuries.

Windsor Fire Public Information Officer Lee Tome says the fire caused a total of $275,000 in damages.

The Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office determined that the smoke detector in the residence was not operational at the time of the fire.

Windsor Fire officials say the cause of the blaze is not being released at this time.

Officials stress the importance of checking your smoke detectors and ensuring they are operational.
