The Government of Ontario will commit $2.5 million this year to move forward with a study that will develop the scope and governance for a state-of-the-art, single site hospital to serve Windsor-Essex.
As well, pending approval of future planning and design stages, up to $35 million would be available to develop comprehensive capital plans.
The Erie St. Clair LHIN, Windsor Regional Hospital, Hôtel Dieu Grace Hospital and community health service providers will partner to develop a plan for a new, integrated-acute care facility. The partners will work closely with the community and patient groups to ensure the proposed new hospital reflects the community’s health care needs.
“We share a strong vision for keeping our families and our community healthy. Windsor has the capacity to become a world-class leader in research, education and the delivery of health care services.” said Dwight Duncan, MPP for Windsor-Tecumseh at this mornings announcement.
