Google Inc has released views of new cities on their popular Street View including far-north Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, and has at last updated Windsor with new imagery for the first time since 2009’s City of Windsor CUPE strike.
The Google Street View car had been spotted by many Windsorites in the city this past Spring and Summer and now those images are slowly being updated onto the popular map site.
The last time photos were taken of Windsor was in 2009 during a strike of CUPE employees at the City. Images of uncut parks, and garbage-filled streets have been online for all to see ever since.
The new images, shot with Google’s Street View car between April and August of this year, show freshly cut parks and flowing gardens, as well as the construction on the Windsor-Essex Parkway, the Downtown Aquatic Centre, the University’s new Centre for Engineering Innovation and other dynamic changes that have taken place in the area in three years.
