You may have noticed Windsor Police officers around the city wearing red laces in their boots today. It’s not a new fashion statement, but rather all part of ‘Be a Fan Day’ by Special Olympics Canada.
The goal of the day is to bring awareness and share the story of the 25-year relationship between law enforcement and Special Olympics.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics made its Canadian debut in 1987. Twenty-five years later, it has grown well beyond its beginnings as a small, grassroots effort.
Be a Fan Day was created to acknowledge all the men and women of the law enforcement community who take part in the Torch Run every year.
