In an effort to avoid long line-ups outside during the cold weather, the Salvation Army is trying a new approach to registering for the annual Christmas Hamper Program this year.
Organizers are asking that those wishing to register for a Christmas hamper can do so during their regular visit to The Salvation Army food bank at 355 Church Street.
The Salvation Army has seen an increase in the use of its services throughout Canada in 2012 and Windsor is no exception. “This year we expect to provide more than 1,300 families with a food voucher and in excess of 3,000 children with toys”, says Major Karen Feltham, Director of Community & Family Services.
People wishing to register for Christmas assistance can visit The Salvation Army Monday to Friday between 10am to 4pm from now until until November 15th.
