Windsor firefighters are cleaning up after a 28 foot long trailer full of paint caught fire near the corner of Chandler and Grand Marais East.
Fire broke out around 2:25pm inside a trailer filled with around 200 gallons of oil-based paint.
Several windsoriteDOTca readers reported seeing thick black smoke in the area of the Chrysler plant.
Two fire engines were able to handle the fire which was put out within minutes and the oil-based paint did not prolong the fire. Firefighters worked hard to ensure that the fire didn’t spread to a nearby house but flames damaged the bay door of a nearby commercial building.
Investigators have determined that the cause of the fire was paint residue on the trailer’s exhaust pump which ignited and spread. The fire caused around $30,000 in damages.
