Machete-wielding Man Barricaded In Building at Ottawa and Parent

UPDATE 5:45am – The standoff has ended and Police have the suspect in custody.

Windsor Police are on scene in force at the corner of Ottawa and Parent as a man has barricaded himself in a building.

The incident started outdoors around 7pm according to Police and the man was observed brandishing a machete and waving it around. When Police got to the area, the man retreated into a building.
Police have the area secured and are in the process of negotiating with the man. Police say it appears that the male is alone in the building.

For reasons of public safety, Windsor Police are asking the public to avoid the area until the matter is resolved.
