Windsor firefighters responded to the 3600 block of McGuire Street, just off of Howard, in South Windsor around 5:30pm for a report of a closet on fire in a child’s bedroom.
Upon arriving on scene, firefighters found the closet and a small area of the room on fire. Crews were able to put it out with the use of a water extinguisher.
Windsor Police were initially called to the scene to investigate but no suspicious activity was found. A fire investigator determined that the cause of the fire was a child playing with a lighter in the closet.
The house suffered $15,000 in damage.
