Windsor Police are seeking the assistance of the public in identifying three suspects involved in the assault of an Auxiliary Police Officer and the theft of Windsor Police equipment.
On Wednesday, June 13th, two Windsor Police Auxiliary Officers were patrolling the Forest Glade Skate Park located at 3215 Forest Glade Drive when they were approached by a citizen who advised them that a number of young people were dealing drugs in the park. The officers approached a group of young men and their attention was drawn to one young male in the park. They observed him place what appeared to be a quantity of marijuana on a scale. The male saw the officers approaching and immediately shoved the marijuana and the scale into a backpack he was carrying.
The officers confronted the male about the drugs and proceeded to arrest him. One of the Auxiliary Officers attempted to take control of the youth however the youth dropped the backpack, pushed the officer and then attempted to put the officer in a headlock which knocked the officer’s hat and glasses off of his head.
The second Auxiliary Officer managed to assist the first officer in freeing himself from the youth’s clutches and was attempting to grab the backpack, however during the fray, another young person grabbed the backpack containing the marijuana, pried the officers fingers off the bag and ran from the scene. A third suspect picked up the officer’s hat and glasses and also ran from the scene. The original suspect seen weighing the marijuana was also able to flee. It should be noted that a large number of young people had gathered around the officers during the ruckus which hampered the attempted arrest and assisted in the subsequent escape of the suspects. All three suspects were able to flee the area on foot with the backpack. One of the Auxiliary Officers received a small laceration under his left eye as a result of the altercation.
Regular Windsor Police Officers attended the scene moments later to assist in the investigation and were verbally abused by the group of young people.
Three young males are wanted by police:
Suspect #1 is described as a white male, 16-18 years of age, 5’8″, medium build. He was wearing a white T-shirt and a red ball cap. He had noticeable gaps between his teeth.
